Newsflash: Artist About to Explode

I’ve been losing control lately mostly because I took on the big project of modifying my basement into a work and studio area. Yes, I suppose that you can say priming and painting my bare dry wall could be art on some level but for me, it’s not. It’s something that must be done in order to reach my goal. It’s fairly daunting though when you have all the walls, ceiling, and floor to paint. Some of my friends have suggested painting drawings or art directly on the walls. I’ve avoided that for only one reason, I don’t want to look at my art work all the time. It’s not that I don’t like what I paint, it just that I like to see change once in a while. I’m to the point though that I want it all done. Really, I do. I feel as if I could explode with all the ideas that are in my head right now. I want a chance to express myself.

So... what have I done? I've turned to Facebook in my spare moments. I have a quest to make friends with artistic people from all over the world. Meeting other people, seeing what they are doing, chatting with them is a great way to funnel my energies and is also stimulating. Maybe, I'm not getting any of my own art done but at least life is tolerable.

My advice to any of you, who are about to take on a project as big as mine that will interfere with what you feel is your main artistic focus, is plan ahead so that you have plenty of money to hire someone else to paint the walls instead of doing it yourself. Ha! But in the meantime, hang out with other artists.

and I am one of those Facebook people... that image really reminds me of a Cy Twombly exhibition I saw at Tate Modern, in London recently
